Linux & Mac App Development Training in Amritsar
Linux & Mac Application Binary Development — our Linux & Mac App Development course in Amritsar, 14 Weeks. Build native desktop applications and system tools for Linux and macOS. Master POSIX APIs, cross-platform C++ GUI development, binary packaging, and system-level automation with engineering precision.
Course Overview
Most software runs on Linux and macOS. This course teaches you how to build native applications and system tools for both platforms. Not web apps. Not Electron. Real native binaries using C++, Qt, POSIX APIs, and platform-specific frameworks. We start with Linux systems programming: file descriptors, fork/exec, signals, IPC, and sockets. The Unix philosophy is not just history. It is how your operating system works.
C++ and Qt are the core of cross-platform native development. CMake build system, modern C++ features, Qt widgets, QML, signals and slots. For macOS, you will learn Objective-C++ bridging, Cocoa, and AppKit. You will build a GUI application that compiles and runs on both Linux and macOS from the same codebase. Memory profiling with valgrind, debugging with GDB, and performance optimization.
Packaging and distribution are where most developers struggle. DEB, RPM, Flatpak, Snap, AppImage for Linux. .app bundles, codesign, notarization, and DMG for macOS. Auto-update mechanisms, library versioning, and cross-compilation. Sandboxing with seccomp, AppArmor, SELinux, and macOS sandbox profiles. You will package your app for every major distribution format.
The final module covers system automation and kernel basics. Bash scripting, systemd services, cron, and automated backups. Kernel modules, character devices, and writing a simple device driver. The capstone is a cross-platform system monitoring daemon with native GUI, packaging, and auto-update. Fourteen weeks, and you can build and ship native applications for Linux and macOS.
Curriculum Blueprint
Weekly module breakdown covering POSIX programming, native GUI development, binary packaging, and system automation.
- Unix philosophy and POSIX standards: file descriptors, system calls, errno handling, and man pages
- Process management: fork/exec, waitpid, zombie processes, and signal handling (SIGTERM, SIGKILL)
- File systems: inode structure, VFS layer, mmap, and directory traversal with dirent
- Inter-process communication: pipes, FIFOs, message queues, shared memory, and Unix domain sockets
- Terminal and TTY: terminal control, raw mode, escape sequences, and building a simple terminal app
- Threading: pthreads, mutexes, condition variables, and thread-safe programming patterns
- Network programming: Berkeley sockets, TCP/UDP servers, epoll/kqueue, and non-blocking I/O
- Security fundamentals: file permissions, capabilities, setuid/setgid, and privilege separation

Common Questions
The things people ask us on the phone before they enrol — answered the same way we would answer them there.
There is no separate price for it. WebPrims charges one fee — ₹4,500 / month — and it covers any course in the catalogue, so the Linux and Mac App Development course works out at about 4 months — around ₹18,000 in total. No admission fee, no registration fee, and the certificate is included.
Monday to Saturday, with batches starting at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Each slot runs up to two hours — sometimes a session finishes early, never late. That works out at roughly 168 hours of class time across the 14 Weeks. Pick whichever time fits around college or work, and move to another later if your timetable changes; it is the same Linux and Mac App Development syllabus in each. We are closed on Sunday.
14 Weeks of taught material, which is about 4 months of Linux and Mac App Development classes. That is the pace of the syllabus; how long you actually take depends on how often you turn up, and nobody is pushed to keep up with the batch.
Yes — C++ or strong C. This is a systems track and it does not start at the beginning.
Native desktop applications that install and run on someone else's machine: POSIX APIs used directly, a cross-platform C++ GUI, and binaries packaged the way each platform expects.
Very little advertised, and almost no competition either — which is the point. It is a niche track, and the people who take it are usually aiming at remote or product work rather than the Amritsar job market.
Yes. Book a free demo class and sit in a real Linux and Mac App Development session — one that was running anyway, not a presentation arranged for you. Write some code on one of our machines, ask the students already in it what it is like, and decide afterwards. Nothing to pay and no obligation.
